ISOLAR® solar control glass in different variants

We offer solar control glass in around 60 different variants. Which of these is the right one for your construction project or building depends on various factors as well as your personal design preferences. Our glasses can be easily combined with other functional glasses from ISOLAR® - such as sound insulation glass or alarm glass. SOLARLUX® variodirect – Insulating glass with built-in blinds

SOLARLUX® A – four solar control variants with visual harmony

SOLARLUX® A – Fischer Kälte-Klima, Rommelshausen

Function & properties:

With our SOLARLUX® A series, you no longer have to choose between need-based solar protection and visual harmony within a building. The requirements for total solar energy transmittance (g-Value) and light transmittance (Lt) are defined by the architect based on the building physics measurements. The four solar control layers A41, A51, A61 and A71 can then be used as required on the different orientations of a building. The uniformity of the colours of the different coatings preserves the visual harmony of the building and reduces the energy requirements of the building. In addition, the increased light transmission on the sides facing away from the sun further contributes to the increased comfort of the building users and occupants.  These solar control glasses also stand out for their neutral transmission colour in low external and internal reflection. Further, they are available in the variants of float glass, tempered safety glass and heat strengthened glass and can also be curved or bent.

SOLARLUX® D – One product, Two solutions

Function & properties:

SOLARLUX® D makes many things easier: You can use the same base glass as non-tempered float glass or as tempered safety glass/heat strengthened glass. Due to our innovative layer design, the change in colouration caused by the thermal treatment is barely visible. This allows the combined use of float or tempered safety glass in a building. SOLARLUX® D40, D40 blue D50, D60 and D70 have outstanding optics due to their brilliant, neutral blue-grey external reflection and low angle-dependence.

SOLARLUX®  Efficient solar control for your façade

Function & properties:

SOLARLUX® E71 is the further development of our long-standing and proven product SOLARLUX® platin. By optimizing the technical parameters, SOLARLUX® E71 has now achieved a Ug-value of 1.0 W/(m²K) and a g-value of 39%. Thus, it provides effective sun protection in summer and thermal insulation in winter. In addition, the reflection colour has been adapted. The low light reflection also ensures perfect transparency. SOLARLUX® E71 provides you with an extremely neutral, low-reflection solar control glass. The economic advantages remain unchanged as with its predecessor product.

SOLARLUX® sunlite A - Selective solar control as monolithic glazing

Function & properties:

With SOLARLUX® sunlite A, you enjoy the benefits of both: a laminated safety glass and an effective solar control coating. SOLARLUX® sunlite A is a highly transparent, effective laminated safety glass

solar control glass for monolithic applications. In the classic application—the curtain wall façade with thermal insulation glazing behind it—SOLARLUX® sunlite A achieves previously unattained values in selectivity. Since no de-lamination of the edges is required, SOLARLUX® sunlite A stands out for its uniform appearance.

Monolithic laminated safety glass consisting of tempered glass (TSG / HSG) or combined in multi-pane insulating glass (double glazing, triple glazing)

SOLARLUX® sunlite bright – Reflective shine for demanding façades

Function & properties:

SOLARLUX® sunlite bright stands out for its silvery reflection and high light transmission. The neutral transmission colour perfectly enhances the excellent photometric properties. This glass opens up new possibilities for applications that could previously only be achieved with pyrolitic coatings (so-called hard coatings). Visually, the glass lends a special charm to any building thanks to its high colour rendering index in transparency and reflection. It can be laminated and bent into laminated safety glass and can be customized by combining with printing or enamelling. The glass can optionally be turned into tempered safety glass or heat strengthened glass or bent as float glass or tempered safety glass. In addition, processing into laminated safety glass (also with layer for film) as well as pre-stressing to tempered safety glass or heat strengthened safety glass is possible without any problems.  SOLARLUX® sunlite bright can also be pre-stressed as float glass or tempered safety glass.

SOLARLUX® sunlite grey: reflective shine as monolithic laminated safety glass with a greyish appearance

Function & properties:

With similar properties as SOLARLUX® sunlite bright, SOLARLUX® sunlite grey has a neutral grey reflection as well as transmission and has impressive optical properties. It can also be used as non-tempered float glass or as tempered safety glass or heat strengthened glass. SOLARLUX® sunlite grey can be laminated and bent into laminated safety glass.

Function & properties:

The integration of a blind in the space between the panes of our classic solar control glass SOLARLUX® adds a little affix to its name: variodirect. But adds great value to SOLARLUX® variodirect: The built-in blinds allow flexible adaptation of the building envelope to different external influences and—unlike externally installed roller shutters or Venetian blinds—they are lastingly protected against dirt, dust and mechanical damage in the space between the glass panes. The system is completely maintenance-free and works in any wind and weather. Installing SOLARLUX®variodirect as a complete system eliminates the need for all additional attachments and fixtures, and the variety of designs and drive types it offers allows it to be integrated in any setting. With SOLARLUX® variodirect, the total energy transmittance (g-Value) and the light transmittance can be adjusted and optimized as required. In this way, the building envelope responds to the constantly changing external influences. Due to the reduction of the total energy transmittance (g-Value), you can reduce the cooling loads of the building air conditioning in the summer months and contribute to environmental protection. In times of lower solar gains, maximum light transmission can increase the comfort and well-being of building users and occupants.  In addition, this product allows true privacy from unwanted prying eyes. Apart from their shading effect, the blinds can also be used for targeted light control and thus increase the light penetration of a room. Meeting the stringent requirements for blinds and insulating glass technology is no problem at all for us, thanks to our more than 50 years of experience in insulating glass and our collaboration with leading manufacturers of solar control technology. The installation and connection to the building services is carried out by qualified specialist companies, which guarantees a perfect and long-lasting function of the solar control system in the insulating glass.

Depending on the drive type and installation scenario, SOLARLUX® variodirect is available in four versions:

  • Type E: with electric drive, stepless raising and lowering as well as turning and tilting for windows and façades.
  • Type ME: with mechanical drive for stepless raising and lowering, rotating and turning in vertical installation
  • Type F:  with individually aligned fixed slats for continuous sun and glare protection in the roof and façade.

* Depending on the type of coating and glass assembly, there is a risk of thermal breakage of the glazing, which is why it is necessary to check individually whether the glass needs to be heat treated.

Innsbruck, the "Capital of the Alps," rightly bears this name. After all, the northern Tyrolean city is picturesquely nestled in the Inn Valley by the Karwendel Mountains to the north and the foothills of the Central Alpine Range to the south. With a population of over 130,000, Innsbruck is once again increasingly relying on the construction of high-rise buildings to create more living space on a limited footprint. Directly in the center, at Innsbruck's main train station, a total of 173 residential units were created with the PEMA 2. The facade architecture of the 50-meter-high building is unique. Depending on the incidence of light, it quotes the surrounding mountain formations.

To create an appropriate head office and the best possible working environment for the international team from 50 different countries, slapa oberholz pszczulny | sop architekten designed a global campus, giving around 2000 employees the highest possible quality of accommodation.

New school centre for inclusion

Since the 2021/2022 school year, the two new buildings of the primary and secondary school as well as the Glonntal secondary school on the outskirts of the Bavarian municipality of Odelzhausen focus on togetherness. Little space, long walking distances and hardly any accessibility are now things of the past. In addition, the two buildings are convincing in terms of design and sustainability – both with the interior design and the exterior façade made of wood and glass.

New office complex sets standards for sustainable and modern working environments

The New Work discussions of recent years have changed architecture. Interior concepts focus on the demands of employees for state-of-the-art workplace environments. They should be open, promote exchange and collaboration, and also ensure spaces for retreat. New office buildings such as Deck 21 in Düsseldorf are not only skilfully picking up on these trends, but are also becoming ecological model projects. And to ensure this, the glass facade must meet a number of requirements.

In Vienna's 3rd district, on the site of the old customs office, three imposing high-rise buildings have been built, the TrIIIple. What is special about them is not only that they combine living and working under one roof in the most modern way. The Tetris figure-like silhouette of the residential towers, each over 100 meters high, with their striking glass facades, could become a new architectural landmark of the Danube metropolis.

With around 68,000 visitors and passengers every day, Münster Central Train Station is one of northern Germany’s biggest transport hubs. In the newly-built entrance hall, the train station building presents itself in a modern way, flooded with light. A long glass facade up to twelve metres high facing the town centre impresses onlookers, and a 110-metre long glass roof stretching over the entrance hall is yet another particularly impressively eye-catching feature.

Stuttgart's tallest hotel and office building combines aesthetics and nature conservation

The Porsche Design Tower is Stuttgart's tallest hotel and office building. Architecturally docked to it, the state capital's second Porsche Center sits on a 1,500-square-meter showcase area. Porsche Deutschland, the Porsche Design lifestyle brand and Bülow AG have placed particular emphasis on sustainable architecture in their first joint construction project. The careful selection of building materials, in particular the use of multifunctional laminated safety glass for the facade design, underlines the harmonious yet striking appearance of the buildings and combines aesthetics and nature conservation in an innovative way.

From railroad depot to stage

With the support of the Free State of Bavaria, a former railroad operations building in Werkstraße in Plattling has been converted into a multifunctional community center. Clubs, associations and social institutions can now use the modernized premises for events. At the same time, the new Plattlinger citiziens' hall was created as an architectural link between the two old buildings. It is equipped with state-of-the-art technology, a catering kitchen and a bar for a wide range of event options. An impressive glass façade with insulating glass from Glas Natter not only creates transparency and brightness for the new citiziens' hall, but also makes it a new architectural highlight in the Lower Bavarian town.

The Midtown Center lies right in the heart of Washington D.C., and it is a multi-function building for shops, restaurants and offices. The building complex was designed by the New Yorkers SHoP Architects and consists of two wings, with a breathtaking hanging bridge that connects the west and east office spaces.

As far as the Argus eyes can see

Zaha Hadid set new standards in design and form with her extraordinary and futuristic architecture. For a long time, her dynamic and kinetic buildings were considered unfeasible in terms of construction technology. But with the fire station in Weil am Rhein, she achieved a breakthrough and numerous world-renowned building projects followed. One of her latest works is the design house ARGOS in Graz. The building joins the extraordinary architecture of the star architect and enriches the Austrian city with another architectural highlight.
