- Less direct sun penetration leading to the heating of a building (“Summer function”)
- High heat insulation in colder weather (“Winter function”)
- High light transmission for good room illumination.
Sun irradiation consists of roughly half visible light and infra-red radiation. The infra-red element of solar radiation, in particular, is responsible for heating rooms behind glazed areas. So a coating which can “differentiate” between visible light and infra-red radiation is particularly good in terms of energy efficiency. It allows a high proportion of the visible light to pass through, whereas the infra-red radiation is mainly reflected back. So this relieves pressure on the climate in the room or the air conditioning system, and also utilises the daylight in the best possible way, which also saves energy used for lighting.

ISOLAR SOLARLUX® microsolar is the ideal combination of sun protection and natural light ambience in the room. The open, directional structure of the micro-lamellas is designed in such a way that the incoming radiation is reflected or transmitted differently depending on the angle of incidence.

Light that strikes perpendicular to the slats can thus pass almost unhindered. In contrast, solar radiation from high i.e. acute angles striking the lamella structure is mainly reflected back. So the sun screening provided by ISOLAR SOLARLUX® microsolar is at its greatest when it is needed most: when the sun is high in the sky - at midday and in summer. When the sun is low in winter, the resulting sun irradiation can mainly pass through the lamella structure making a free contribution to the warmth in the room.
ISOLAR SOLARLUX® microsolar is glass which can tell the difference between the seasons, providing a well regulated, pleasant room temperature all year round. At the same time the fine structure of the metal strips delivers sufficient, colour-neutral illumination.
ISOLAR SOLARLUX® microsolar can be easily combined with other types of functional glass. Assembly is straightforward and is suitable for large scale glazing, facade glazing as well as conservatories and glass roofs.
