SOLARLUX®: Solar control glass - Energy saving an creative design

Modern insulating glasses for sun protection are considered "all-rounders", which help in every season and every weather to assure a pleasant room climate. The key to success is the coatings which are placed on at least one of the surfaces. With these, SOLARLUX® fulfills the needs which are concurrent with the prevailing Central European climate:

  • Reduction of sun irradiation which causes overheating of buildings (Summer function)
  • Heat insulation during colder weather (Winter function)
  • Extensive light permeability for excellent room illumination.

The sun irradiation consists approximately of half visible light and infrared radiation. The infrared share of the sun irradiation is primarily responsible for the heating of rooms behind glazed areas.

According to energy use, it is particularly good if the coating can "distinguish" between visible light and infrared radiation because a high share of the visible light passes through the glass while the infrared radiation is largely reflected. Therefore, the room climate is regulated, and possibly the air-conditioning system is better supported. Whereby daylight is optimally used, which saves energy for lighting.

In addition to sun protection in the near infrared area, the special design of coatings prevents the warmth under such weather conditions from escaping from the inside to the outside and so saves heating energy.

SOLARLUX® makes buildings prestigious because it offers the possibility to unite functionality and esthetics. The color variety and the more or less reflecting effect, connected with SOLARLUX® light reflection, makes it possible for the architect to specially accentuate the building’s outer design.
